Construction Update - May 18

May 18th, 2006

The Methodist Boerne Medical Center is currently following its timeline well. The forming pan and rebar of the first floor slab have now been completed.

“We obtained special permission from the City of Boerne to pour concrete at 2:00 a.m.,” said Dean Alexander, CEO of Boerne Medical Center. “This allowed us to form and reinforce steel of the entire first floor in two early morning pours and maintain control of the curing concrete while avoiding the afternoon heat.”

Currently, underground storm sewer and water lines are being installed. In the coming weeks, installation of site utilities, excavation forming and placement of miscellaneous building concrete panels will begin.

Methodist Boerne Medical Center Launches New Web Site For Boerne Residents

May 10th, 2006

May 10, 2006 - Boerne, Texas - The Boerne community now has an online health resource specifically designed to fit their needs. Methodist Boerne Medical Center launched BoerneHealth.com today, a Web site that combines health and wellness information with local community news.

“We are so excited to be able to offer this valuable health resource; we encourage the people of Boerne to browse through the site to investigate all it has to offer,” states Dean Alexander, CEO of Methodist Boerne Medical Center. Surfers on the site will be able to find fitness and lifestyle tools to keep their family healthy; a listing of physicians practicing in Boerne; a search engine to help find a specialist for specific health needs and health and wellness references on a variety of diseases and conditions.

A bonus is the community information that can be found. That includes a community calendar packed with local events throughout the year; links to local organizations; photos from various Boerne events and personal submissions for the Methodist Boerne Medical Center time capsule to be buried upon the completion of Phase One of the project and opened in 2026. Local organizations are encouraged to submit information on their upcoming events in the community calendar as well as time capsule entries; they merely need to logon to BoerneHealth.com for details.

Another special feature is a construction Web Cam. With one click, browsers will be able to monitor real-time construction progress of the Methodist Boerne Medical Center.

“Methodist is proud to be part of the Boerne community and this is just one way of showing our dedication to the residents,” adds Alexander. Methodist has made several contributions to local organizations including the Boerne YMCA, Hill Country Mission for Life, American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, Boerne Independent School District, Boerne Education Foundation, the Boerne Chamber of Commerce, Boerne Rotary Club and the Boerne Rainbow Senior Center. Most recently, the Methodist Boerne Medical Center concluded its Boerne Health Lecture series at Morningside Manor.

The BoerneHealth.com launch was held at the Boerne Grill; area residents were treated to coffee and pastry while they were able to browse the new site on laptops set-up in the restaurant.
