Boerne YMCA Holds Official Ribbon Cutting
June 30th, 2006The Boerne Hill Country Family YMCA held its ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday, June 15 to celebrate its opening in the Boerne community. Located at 1361 S. Main in the Hill Country Square Shopping Center, the Boerne Branch is the first health and wellness full-service YMCA to open in the surrounding area in 30 years.
“We have been anticipating this for a long time,” said Boerne Board Chair Fred Stumberg. “Volunteers and staff have worked hard to make this dream a reality.”
The 22,000 sq. ft. Branch opened on January 1, 2006, with 650 Charter Members. Currently, the Branch has 1,442 member units or 4,429 total members. “Opening this new health and wellness facility is part of our Vision 2010,” said YMCA President/CEO Baron Herdelin-Doherty.
“The face of the YMCA is changing and by the year 2010, the Y plans to be serving all communities in and around San Antonio through full-service family health and wellness facilities such as the one in Boerne.”
