Methodist Healthcare Announces Front Door to Hospital Services with New 24/7 “9-1-1” Emergency Care for Boerne

July 11th, 2006

Boerne to be Home of First-ever Stand Alone ER in Central/South Texas

Boerne, Texas - July 11, 2006 -Today, Methodist Healthcare made another milestone announcement that will significantly elevate the level of health care in Boerne and surrounding communities. Following in its tradition of introducing “firsts”, Methodist Healthcare announced the design and development of the first-ever 24/7 freestanding Emergency Department in South and Central Texas. The construction of the Methodist Boerne Emergency Center, at a cost of $13.6 million, is over and above Methodist’s original commitment to build an $11 million medical office building, which is now under construction.

“The front door of a hospital is truly its emergency department. This new 9-1-1 emergency facility will essentially be just like having the Methodist Hospital Emergency Department in Boerne. It will offer the best of both worlds–a higher level of emergency care closer to home and the depth of resources of an acute care hospital for any long-term illness or serious injury. This community will benefit immediately from having advanced emergency care in their neighborhood”, stated Dean Alexander, CEO – Methodist Boerne Medical Center.

Construction Update - July 10, 2006

July 10th, 2006

Methodist Boerne Medical Center is taking shape! The steel skeleton is up and construction continues on schedule. In early July, crews installed joists and second-floor decking, as well as interior stairways. In addition, site storm drainage adjustments were made. In the coming weeks, crews will install deck and joists on the third floor and on the roof and will pour second and third floor concrete slabs. Next, scaffolding will be erected around the building so metal stud exterior walls can be attached to the perimeter. Inside the building, crews will begin installation of overhead duct work, plumbing piping and electrical conduits. Lobby and common area design work is ongoing.
